LiFePo4

LiFePO₄ battery& nbsp;(short for Lithium Iron Phosphate battery) is a type of& nbsp;rechargeable lithium-ion battery known for its& nbsp;excellent safety, long lifespan, and thermal stability.

🔬 What it’s made of:

  • Cathode: Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄)
  • Anode: Typically graphite (carbon)
  • Electrolyte: Lithium salt in organic solvent

🔋 Key Features of LiFePO₄ Batteries:

FeatureDescription
SafetyExtremely stable and resistant to overheating or catching fire (much safer than other lithium chemistries)
Cycle LifeCan last 2,000 to 5,000+ full charge cycles — often 10+ years with proper care
Energy DensityLower than other lithium-ion types (like NMC or NCA), but still efficient
Thermal StabilityPerforms well in high temperatures, but charging in freezing temps can damage it
WeightLighter than lead-acid, but heavier than some high-energy lithium chemistries
MaintenanceMaintenance-free — no need for water top-ups or venting gases like lead-acid batteries
Environmental ImpactUses non-toxicabundant materials (no cobalt), and is more eco-friendly than other lithium types
